Editorial

Hello Lovelies,
It’s been an incredibly hectic time at my house this month! I keep hearing myself saying “when things calm down, we will….” and “when things get back to normal…” But I’m slowly starting to think that maybe this is our normal…at least for now.
I don’t know about you, but I find it a constant battle trying to juggle everything I have going on, making those I love feel important and loved AND all the while trying to do it with a smile on my face, never complaining and really not fooling anyone.

It’s with thoughts of this struggle we all face that I want to remind us all that we…make…cakes! We toil for hours, spends hundreds, sometimes thousands on tools, ingredients, classes and books all to see that amazed smile, hear that delighted squeal and sometimes even go to mush inside at the sight of a happy tear or two. Even with all the time, money and hard work, it’s still just cake…without the wonderful people in your life to share it with…it’s just cake….without your family to be quietly proud of you even though they complain about being Cake Widows….it’s just cake.
So please, next time you read something negative or horrible in the Cake Community, don’t let it turn you off or dishearten you, remember that without all the good things in our wonderful community of family, friends, bakers and cakers…it really would be…just cake 

Cake This Tute Review by Raewyn

This month my tutorial review is

Stained Glass Effect Cake

by Tasha of

TashasTastyTreats

I have to say I adored using this tutorial. The whole thing was very clear and easy to follow and I found the hand painting and even the piping very relaxing! I plan on doing 3 other panels and haven't decided what to feature on the others yet, but I'll certainly enjoy making them. I can't say I recommend you try this in a caravan full of jumping children as I did...the things we do to get everything done haha! Thanks so much Tasha, this was a fabulous tutorial and a technique I've wanted to try for ages :)

Here is how I used the Bi-Colour Rose I made using Lisa of LMCakeDesign's gorgeous tutorial. It was for a Mothers Day fundraiser at Holly's school so I went for some brighter colours than I would usually try.

I loved learning this new technique and felt very clever making it with my hands instead of cutters. Thanks for sharing with us Lisa :)

Check out this amazing new technique that will make your life easier: 3D Sugar Printing. I know that there is something special about toppers crafted by hand, but could you imagine the potential this technique could offer?
